Gareth Burns leads bp Ventures, bp’s corporate venture capital unit, which has deployed more than $1bn since its launch in 2007. Since taking the helm 2023, Gareth has sharpened the unit’s focus on strategic value and disciplined capital deployment across three verticals: oil & gas value chains, low carbon technologies & fuels and energy usage & storage. Prior to joining bp, he worked for Equinor for over 25 years which included establishing and scaling Equinor Ventures. Despite being based in London, he maintains an active participation in endurance cycling and multisport events.
