Name
Plenary Session I - Data Centers and the Resource Consumption Dilemma
Date & Time
Wednesday, September 10, 2025, 10:45 AM - 12:00 PM
Description

Reimagining the future of datacenters - where data processing innovation meets energy efficiency in the race toward sustainable, high-performance computing.

As cutting-edge AI and crypto innovations drive escalating data processing demands, datacenters emerge as new energy hotspots. The IEA projects a surge in global datacenter electricity consumption from 460 TWh in 2022 to 800 TWh by 2026—a staggering 75% increase.

This session will explore breakthrough technologies that boost processing power performance while dramatically reducing power consumption. We will jointly identify the main pain points, explore key trends, and examine how tailored technology solutions can effectively address critical challenges in modern data processing and related energy needs.

Questions:

  • What energy solutions are best aligned with data center requirements?
  • What are key tech trends that will impact and transform data center energy requirements?
  • Are there any black swans that can entirely change the outlook (DeepSeek, quantum computing, distributed data centers, ..)
